Fishing Kona April 30, 2011 – Mark and Mike Day 1

Mark and his son Mike are in town to fish for ahi.  We got an early start and headed south looking for the south porpoise school.  We weren’t out long before we found a small pod right in front the harbor.  There were a few fish in there but not enough to keep us interested so we headed farther south looking for a bigger pile.  About mid day we found a big pile that had some fish showing on the sounder.  We went right to the greenstick but had to really work the pile before we got one to bit.  Mark was up first and did an awesome job fighting this 107 1/2lb ahi to the boat.  Tomorrow his son Mike is in the chair to try for an even bigger one!  More tomorrow!
